Facilities

MSR (Meser) is located at the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in Israel. Sheba is the largest medical facility in Israel, recognized internationally for its leadership in healthcare and medical research.

MSR is designed as a virtual hospital, offering a wide spectrum of medical simulation techniques. These include computer-driven, full-body physiological mannequins, advanced task trainers for complex manual skills, and live simulated patients played by role-playing actors in clinic, pharmacy, and hospital simulation, to develop better communication and clinical skills.

This approach also enables team training for high risk clinical conditions in a risk-free environment. Advanced audiovisual equipment and one-way observation booths further facilitate effective debriefing and constructive feedback to trainees.

An additional floor dedicated to trauma and surgical simulation is now fully operational. Here trainees are exposed to experiential programs that include every aspect of surgery; from the very basic technical skills, through the execution of tasks, followed by full procedures. Integration of specialized and unique skills is inherent to this program as well.  The floor is equipped with a wide range of advanced simulators that provide synthetic models of organs with accurate tissue properties, thus realistically simulating human anatomy and allowing handling (physical or virtual). These simulators make the use of animals or cadavers unnecessary.

Furthermore, virtual reality (VR) simulators provide an adjunct to the already existing training tools, expanding training possibilities beyond the conventional classroom to web based classrooms for participants from any place on the globe, simultaneously. VR also provides a standardized and controlled environment in which surgical trainees can practice and refine their skills in safe "virtual" scenarios and receive objective feedback, all of which are the most important ingredients of didactic education.
